State Metal Industries Named to Alcoa’s
Top 10 Scrap Suppliers List For Second Year in a Row,
Three Of The Last Four Years

An Industry-Recognized Supplier Of Standard And
Specification Aluminum, SMI Melts, Recycles, And Processes Scrap Metal

For the second year in a row, State Metal Industries (“SMI”), one of New Jersey’s premier aluminum recyclers, has been honored as an Alcoa top 10 aluminum supplier for 2008 by the world’s leading producer and manager of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina facilities.

SMI now has made Alcoa’s key supplier list for three of the last four years.  Alcoa, a world leader in recycling, evaluated all their suppliers before honoring just nine in the United States and one in Canada.  Criteria Alcoa used to make the selection include scrap volume; scrap value and savings to Alcoa; quality; proximity to Alcoa plants; dealer growth and improving scrap product; number of Alcoa plants supplied; timely delivery; dealer safety programs; environmental compliance; and ISO 9000, the quality management system standard, according to a news release issued by Kevin Anton, president of Alcoa Materials Management.

A state-of-the-art producer of specification aluminum ingot for the die cast, foundry and steel industries for 60 years, SMI’s quality-controlled, recycled aluminum ingots, sows and processed scrap metal are the building blocks for many products around the U.S. and the world.

The Alcoa award winners for 2008, “work closely with us in understanding each other’s needs and objectives to improve the scrap quality and processes within the Alcoa plants,” Anton added in the July 2008 news release announcing the award.

Other 2008 Alcoa winners are located in Ohio, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and Quebec, Canada.

Our 60th Anniversary

State Metal Industries recently celebrated its 60th anniversary.  Our family business continues to grow and we’re looking forward for the next 60 years as an aluminum recycler and state-of-the-art producer of specification aluminum ingot for the die cast, foundry and steel industries.

New Office Facilities

State Metal Industries recently expanded office facilities at our South Second Street headquarters, remodeling the first floor and adding a new second level.  This additional space will allow new efficiencies for our clerical and management staff.  Along with the expansion we’ve upgraded our communications infrastructure.  Both improvements will help support our growth and continuing commitment to recycling and Camden.
